We are the van der Leij family living in Hellevoetsluis, which is a nice little old town at the coast of the Netherlands.

Here you see our family crest which I found in an old book in the Rotterdam main library. I copied it using my digital camera and added the colours as described in the book, as the book itself in printed in black and white.

The title of the book is "Planches de l'Armorial Général" by J.B. Rietstap and V.Holland, issued by the Institut Héraldique in Paris in 1912.

To clarify our position in the van der Leij family tree, I refer to the book "Our Dutch Heritage" by Martina C. van Ritbergen-Vanderley, which describes the family tree starting at the year of 1730. On page 163 reference is made to Julles Eugene van der Leij  who is actually my father. To expand on the book, the branch may be updated as shown on the Family Tree page.
